Bernicia manages 14,000 homes across the North East, from Berwick to the Tees Valley. As a social landlord we have a strong commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility which informs what type of homes we build, how we manage their maintenance and how we support the people who live in our communities.
A key part of this support is our work helping people aspire to and access good employment. Our employability team delivers projects to help people develop the aspiration and skills they need to access good jobs. We work with employers to offer genuine opportunities and collaborate with partners such as the HENNE network, to deliver joined up services. We help people with barriers to work such as young people leaving the care system and actively support development of a skilled workforce in emerging industries such as the green economy. It is the foundation of our commitment to work collaboratively to support the North East region.
Bernicia is a member of the Housing Employment Network North East (HENNE) which is a partnership of 12 North East social housing providers who through collaboration and the development of practical solutions, aims to support our residents and tenants to overcome barriers to employment, develop skills and experience, and provide employment opportunities.
