WHG joins Communities that Work

West Midland’s based housing association WHG has joined our growing membership.

With more than 19,000 properties across Walsall WHG provides ‘affordable, good quality homes and community-based services to the local community.’ They ‘house almost 40,000 people, which is around one fifth of the borough’s population’.

WHG are committed to helping improve their customers’ quality of life, from improving their living conditions by investing in their properties to providing training to help people back into work. Their project ‘The Skills Centre’ offers customers the chance to learn all sorts of trades from bricklaying through to renewable energy.

Running alongside this project is their ever-expanding range of apprenticeships. They have a strong emphasis on construction and offer accredited training, which helps people of all ages try their hand a new trade, building from the ground upwards to start a career.

Kate Shone, Chair of Communities that Work said, “WHG’s work in helping people back into work is a perfect fit with the aims and objectives we have. Their life skills courses describe perfectly that helping people find a job and improve their life is about more than just getting paid, it’s about personal development, and building confidence – understanding our customers and their needs. I can’t wait to begin working with the team from WHG and learning more about their work, they are a brilliant addition to our team.”
