Southern Housing Group’s resident shortlisted for Young Builder of the Year

Congratulations to Dylan Regan for being shortlisted for the 2019 Young Builder of the Year Awards – the celebration took place on 16 October at the House of Commons.

The Southern Housing Group (SHG) resident was part of the housing association’s employment scheme, Southern Works which provides employment-related advice and guidance to all SHG residents such as CV review, help with job applications and interview preparation.

The employment and training team at SHG has helped Dylan into an apprenticeship and site management training and the hard work has been recognised with Dylan being shortlisted for the 18 – 24 year old group at the 2019 Young Builder of the Year Awards.

John Gleeson, Head of Community Investment at SHG said : “We are extremely proud of Dylan and our employment and training team. Dylan’s journey has seen Southern Housing Group and Durkan support him throughout his apprenticeship and his training courses. This nomination is a reflection of what we have achieved together, and we hope to inspire other social housing tenants to join employment schemes to further advance their futures.”

The annual awards celebrate the achievements of socially excluded young people. Their mission is to promote engagement with young people to combat social exclusion through the development of construction-based support services and celebrate young people’s success.
