Communities that Work week is finally here!

It’s the week where the housing sector stands together with one voice: housing providers are leading the way to help social housing tenants into long term and rewarding employment.

Make sure you’re making the most out Communities that Work week, and help raise the profile of the work your housing organisation does to help people into long term, rewarding work.

This week, Communities that Work has a series of events planned, including:

  • Two ministerial visits to employment schemes operated by Communities that Work’s members. Tomorrow (21 May), Will Quince MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at DWP will visit the Transform and Achieve scheme in Poplar, hosted by Metropolitan Thames Valley, followed by Alok Sharma MP, Employment Minister, visiting an L&Q employment scheme in Barking on 24 May.
  • Launch of ‘Housing Works’ report. Thanks to everyone who has been a part of the research by University of Salford. Today (20 May), Lord Best will introduce the research at a House of Lords reception and consider the key findings of a two-year independent research piece, which Communities that Work members contributed significantly to, by providing much of its evidence.
  • Three winners will be announced for the social media competition. We are announcing three winners over the course of the week. Winners will receive up to £500 towards any employment or skills training and be featured in 24housing. Good luck to all finalists!

News of the new Parliamentary Inquiry from the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Housing and Employment will be announced on 22 May.
