Bags of Help – an opportunity for members

National communities and environment charity, Groundwork, are appealing to Communities that Work members to take part in the Bags of Help scheme, which can provide funding opportunities for local community improvement initiatives.

Bags of Help is Tesco’s local community grant scheme, which helps fund local projects that promote community participation in improving or accessing outdoor spaces. The grants are funded by the 5p bag levy, which apply in all nationwide Tesco stores. To date the scheme has helped thousands of local community projects get off the ground.

Groundwork administers Bags of Help on behalf of Tesco, throughout England and Wales, and in partnership with Greenspace Scotland, in Scotland.

Groundwork is particularly keen to encourage applications from Communities that Work members, from across the following areas: South Wales, Leeds, Nottingham, Greater Manchester, Liverpool, London, Leicester, Derby, and Burton.

If you feel that your housing organisation, or any projects in your area, could benefit from the grant, and to find out more details about how the scheme is administered locally, visit the website here.

Alternatively, contact the Bags of Help grants hotline on 0121 237 5780 or email tescobagsofhelp@groundwork.org.uk
